- Dinton is a village in the Nadder valley on the B3089 road east of Teffont Magna and west of Barford St Martin
- In 1934, Dinton parish absorbed the ancient parish of Baverstock, where the B3089 bridges the Salisbury and Yeovil Railway east of the village.
- The railway separates the village from the River Nadder, but the station to the south west of the village
- was closed in 1966, and the nearest station west of Salisbury is at Tisbury.
- From the disused station a minor road leads over the railway to Fovant south of Dinton.
- North from the village, a minor road leads up Teffont Down, crossing Grim's Ditch and Wylye Down,
- before dropping down to the Wylye Valley, at Wylye village, west of Steeple Langford.
