Bill was born on August 30, 1927 in Des Moines, Iowa. In 1965 he earned the role of Captain Roger Healy in the TV show "I Dream of Jeannie", and this starring role would continue on for 5 years. He played the neighbor Howard Borden on "The Bob Newhart Show" from 1972 to 1978. He had a long career in stand-up and television comedy. He was married 3 times, and had adopted a son and daughter. He passed away of natural causes on September 4, 2018, at age 91.
