- then skirting the south of the city eastwards.
- The north of the city is enveloped by Tewksbury Borough, which stretches north to the boundary with Worcestershire.
- This borough is separated from Wales by Forest of Dean District.
- The largest conurbation is Cheltenham, separated by Tewksbury Borough, less than 3 miles north east of Gloucester District.
- Cheltenham District also has Tewksbury Borough to the north, and although includes the Cotswold Hills,
- only the north east and eastern extremes of the county are within Cotswold District.
