Chitterne is a village on the southern edge of Salisbury Plain, on the B390 road west of  Shrewton.
To the west, the B390 meets the A36 to  Warminster at Heytesbury.
Before this, the B390 passes through the small parish of Knock, whose boundary extends north
along the western boundary of Chitterne parish.
Upton Lovell is immediately west of Chitterne parish.
Codford parish is along the southern boundary, which represents the Wylye valley east of the A303 road.
South east of Chitterne Down, the remains of Yarnborough Castle hill fort are north of the A303 on
the boundary between  Steeple Langford and  Berwick St James before Maddington Down
in Shrewton on the eastern boundary.
Orcheston is north of Shrewton, and a minor road connects Chitterne north east to  Tilshead.
The northern boundary is between Berril Down and Chapperton Down in Imber, where the
army training area is represented by the Tilshead category.
