- Chitterne is a village on the southern edge of Salisbury Plain, on the B390 road west of Shrewton.
- To the west, the B390 meets the A36 to Warminster at Heytesbury.
- Before this, the B390 passes through the small parish of Knock, whose boundary extends north
- along the western boundary of Chitterne parish.
- Upton Lovell is immediately west of Chitterne parish.
- Codford parish is along the southern boundary, which represents the Wylye valley east of the A303 road.
- South east of Chitterne Down, the remains of Yarnborough Castle hill fort are north of the A303 on
- the boundary between Steeple Langford and Berwick St James before Maddington Down
- in Shrewton on the eastern boundary.
- Orcheston is north of Shrewton, and a minor road connects Chitterne north east to Tilshead.
- The northern boundary is between Berril Down and Chapperton Down in Imber, where the
- army training area is represented by the Tilshead category.
