Situated 20km south of Napier, Hastings has a population of 40,000. Like Napier, it was damaged in the earthquake of 1931 and now features examples of both Art Deco and Spanish Missionary architecture.
Attractions of the area include wineries, breweries, and the Fantasyland theme park.
