Since the 1980's, a number of groups have reacted to the marketing of dried milk and other baby-feedng products in less developed countries by international corporations.

The best known example is perhaps the boycott of Nestlé, the Swiss-based multinational, but the campaigners have several focusses for action:-
- promotion of breast-feeding
- promoting and protecting the World Health Assembly's International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes
- campaigning against companies alleged to be violating the code.
