A strong and lively regional style brought to Nova Scotia, Canada, by Scottish immigrants during the Highland Clearances. Cape Breton fiddle music is strongly influenced by the sounds of Gaelic music.

"It is widely held that the tradition of Scottish fiddle music has been better preserved in Cape Breton," than in Scotland [Wikipedia].

The Maritimes consists of the three provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island - an area of strong fiddling tradition, with a mixture of Scots (Cape Breton), French (Acadian), and Irish immigrant styles.

Maritime fiddling, also referred to as the "Down East" style, draws on all three fiddling heritages. Players of this style include Gerry Robichaud and Don Messer.

A mix of Scottish, French and Indian traditions, highly spirited and adjusted to suit the traditional Métis dances; found mainly in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, Canada.
