This category is for sites where amateur or professional photographers showcase their works, or for sites about photographers (online exhibitions).

The 'Fine Art' categories are for sites showing primarily photographic work that attempts to go beyond a literal presentation of the subject matter.

Group Projects

This category is for sites that exhibit photographs made by more than one photographer, and where all participating photographers are/have been working on a common project. The 'common project' idea is important. This category is therefore not for sites which just 'happen' to show photographs, with or without a common subject, made by different photographers. Sites that accept new members or guest submissions over the Web (online clubs and virtual communities) are listed in the 'Communities' category.

The primary focus of your site has to be on Photography. It should be evident that the exhibited images are made by photographers. Collections of snapshots, or sites featuring images of poor technical quality will NOT be listed anywhere in Arts/Photography.

The Historical Photographers category is devoted to sites which support the study of, or provide access to, the work of 19th and early 20th century photographers who, though not recognized for their impact upon the larger history of photography, were influential or important within their own genre or locality.

This category is for sites including interesting or significant historical work by 19th and early 20th century photographers whose work was important or influential within a specific genre, locality, or country.

Sites about photographers who are internationally recognized in major historical textbooks, such as Naomi Rosenblum''s World History of Photography, should be submitted to Arts/Photography/Photographers/Masters.

Collections of vintage photographs should be submitted to Recreation/Antiques/Photographs.

Texts on the history of photography should be submitted to Arts/Photography/Reference/History.

Image and Writings

Masters

The Masters of Photography category is devoted to sites which support the study of, or provide access to, the art and history of acknowledged masters.

A Master Photographer is one who, having had an impact upon the practice of photography through his or her work, has established a widely recognized place within the history of photography. A strong sales record or a long list of exhibitions and publications is not enough to qualify a photographer as a master. He or she must also be recognized by major museums, usually through the presentation of retrospective exhibitions, and his or her contribution to the field acknowledged by major historians of photography.

Only extremely well-known and historically significant photographers are listed in Arts/Photography/Masters.

In general, submit only links to photographers who are recognized in major historical textbooks, such as Naomi Rosenblum''s World History of Photography.

This category is for photography sites that feature primarily mixed collections of photographs of animals, plants, insects, wild scenery, and landscapes.
