Utilities are direct distributors of energy to end use customers such as residential, industrial and commercial consumers of energy.

Telecommunication providers should list their sites in the appropriate category in Telecommunications.

Finding the Proper Location for Your Site:

Conduct a search of the Open Directory for few keywords that relate to your site. The search results will serve up listings of different categories. Go to those categories and determine which one is appropriate for your site.
Be sure to review the subcategory descriptions, if available, to determine if your site is appropriate to that category or subcategory.
Review the site descriptions of the entries in the category that you intend to submit to. Prepare your description in advance. Please do not just send us your META description.

The description should be in English and in coherent sentence or phrase form.
Do not include superlatives or a sales pitch.
Do not submit your company history.
Do not submit a list of keywords.
Do not use unnecessary capitalization, or include HTML tags.

Submit to only ONE category

Submit to the best category possible. If you cannot find the proper category in Business, first look elsewhere in the ODP. If you still cannot locate an appropriate category, submit the site to the best category possible.

The World, Regional, and Shopping hierarchies.
- World is for sites in languages other than English. Each has a Business hierarchy of its own.
- Shopping is for retail and online sales sites.
- Regional contains many business listings for specific localities. If your organization serves a small geographic area, Regional may be the best location for your listing.

Suppliers to the Utility industry should be listed in Equipment

Software for the Utility industry should be listed in Utility Software.

Anyone submitting a site to this category must follow the following requirement and procedures.

Types of listings that will not be accepted in this category are:

Products and equipment for consumers. If your site sells these items, please submit consumer related utility products to the Shopping category.
Energy management software. Please submit sites related to or the sales and distribution of software to the: Energy Management Software category.
Any sites which contains adult content, nudity, or is illegal (i.e. warez). Adult content is to be restricted to the adult area of Dmoz.
Duplicate entries will not be listed. This includes multiple domain names for the same item, redirects, multiple page urls, etc.
Submit non-English sites to the appropriate category under World.
Do not submit sites "under construction." Wait until a site is complete before submitting it.
Sites for and about Utilities and related services and equipment. Please submit to the appropriate sub-category in Utilities.

Basic submission guidelines

The url should be to your sites main page.
The title is to be the name of your business, NOT the name of the product, unless they are the same. The title may not be in all capital letters or contain any "hype" type phrases.
The description should be about the company''s functions and general information only. It should not contain phrases that are considered promotional or hype such as: the best, the ultimate, does everything, great, etc. The description also should not repeat the company name, or product name. You may add features found on your site such as reports, articles, product listing, etc. You may also list where your company is.

Submit to only ONE category. Submit to the best category possible. If you cannot find the proper category in Business, first look elsewhere in the ODP. If you still cannot locate an appropriate category, submit the site to the best category possible.

Check your URL The Title is your business name The Description is a brief summary of what you provide. Please avoid - "the best", "experts in" "leading supplier". Please also avoid a list of key words for search engines.

Please ensure the item you are posting is within this category.

A service is where you are offering a thing that you will do, not advise on - that is consulting and has its own category!

Direct services could be cleaning, installation, decommissioning, reinstatement, boiler repairs, installation of water treatment plants. Recruitment
