Usenet, or Netnews, is a world-wide distributed discussion system. Traditional access to newsgroups, or discussion fora, requires newsreader software and access to a newsserver. Many ISPs provide access to a newsserver as part of their service package.
Sites in this category allow you to access the discussion fora, or newsgroups, through a web browser, without accessing a newsserver via newsreader software utilizing NNTP protocol.
Sites in this category allow free access to Usenet newsgroups, unless otherwise noted.
Submit only sites which allow access to Usenet newsgroups via a web page.To be accepted, the web site must provide the following:
1) Easy to find contact address so that anyone who has a complaint to file can contact the newsmaster. 2) X-Complaints-To: header with a valid e-mail address appended to every message, again to make possible complaints against spam. 3) Access to at least one test newsgroup such as alt.test so that users can check the service without posting off-topic messages and disturbing other participants.
Finally, please note that if the site also allows access via a newsreader, it must be submitted in Computers/Usenet/Feed_Services.
