This short-lived generation brought about some important changes in Corvettes, including the emergence of the Stingray in 1966. These cars are often referred to as 'second generation' or 'C2' Corvettes.
These Corvettes symbolized another radical change in body style. The Stingray was discontinued in 1976, and in 1978 a special Corvette was produced for the car's 25th Anniversary. Production continued through 1982, when another 'Collector's Edition' model was released.
The Corvette produced in 1983 was of a poor quality, and only a few were made. Of these, only one survives, and it sits in the National Corvette Museum. The C4 Corvette began in 1984 and continued through 1996. Special editions cars were released in 1988 and 1992 as 35th and 40th Anniversary Corvettes, respectively.
