Reference Quotations
A quotation is a copy of the words of another, with acknowledgment of the source. If you do not include sources for your quotations, the Reference sub-categories are not right for your site. You might consider submitting it to one of the Society:People:Personal Pages categories. If your site is primarily a sales promotion, please submit it to the appropriate Shopping category.
If the daily quotations you provide are limited to a particular subject, you might consider submitting your site to one of the subject-specific Reference:Quotation sub-categories. For instance, a site that sends out a daily inspirational quote might prefer to be listed in the Reference:Quotations:Inspirational sub-category.

Daily and Random

A quotation is a copy of the words of another, with acknowledgment of the source. Daily and Random Quotes sites email a quotation to users on a regular schedule, or display a new quote or set of quotes each time the user visits the site. If you do not include sources for your quotations, the Reference sub-categories are not right for your site. You might consider submitting it to one of the Society:People:Personal Pages categories. If your site is primarily a sales promotion, please submit it to the appropriate Shopping category.

This category is for sites whose primary focus is the quoting of epitaphs, last words, reflections on death, suicide notes, and similar material.

Famous

A quotation is a copy of the words of another, with acknowledgment of the source. The Reference:Quotations:Famous sub-category lists sites which feature quotations by a famous person, or a closely related set of famous people.
If your site is primarily a sales promotion, please submit it to the appropriate Shopping category.

If your site quotes many famous people who are not related historically, philosophically or otherwise, please select one of the other Reference:Quotations sub-categories for your listing.

Inspirational

A quotation is a copy of the words of another, with acknowledgment of the source. If you do not include sources for your quotations, the Reference sub-categories are not right for your site. You might consider submitting it to one of the Society:People:Personal Pages categories. If your site is primarily a sales promotion, please submit it to the appropriate Shopping category.
The Reference:Quotations:Inspirational sub-category lists sites whose primary focus is inspiring, motivational quotations.

Sites providing quotations primarily of a religious nature should be submitted to Reference:Quotations:Religion and Spirituality.

Sites offering motivational consulting or training programs as their primary focus should be submitted to the appropriate Shopping or Society category.

Personal Pages

A quotation is a copy of the words of another, with acknowledgment of the source. If you do not include sources for your quotations, the Reference sub-categories are not right for your site. You might consider submitting it to one of the Society:People:Personal Pages categories. If your site is primarily a sales promotion, please submit it to the appropriate Shopping category.
The Reference:Quotations:Personal Favorites sub-category lists quotation pages from personal web sites. Many descriptions are left unaltered from the original submission so that a personal touch is maintained by each link here.

Political

A quotation is a copy of the words of another, with acknowledgment of the source. If you do not include sources for your quotations, the Reference sub-categories are not right for your site. You might consider submitting it to one of the Society:People:Personal Pages categories. If your site is primarily a sales promotion, please submit it to the appropriate Shopping category.
The Reference:Quotations:Political sub-category lists sites which feature collections of political quotations. In general, sites limiting their offerings to the political quotations of a single person should be listed in Reference:Quotations:Famous.

Religion and Spirituality

The sites in this category have quotes from diverse religious and spiritual sources. Their content is inspirational and meant to inspire. For quotes from a more scientific standpoint see the @-links.

Sites belong in this category if they have religious and/or spiritual quotes, with reference. Usually the quotes will be about spiritual living and related subjects. Quotes can be from all religious and spiritual traditions.

Submission Tips:

  1. When writing your site''s title please ensure it is the same as your organization.
  2. When writing your site''s description, please tell what your site offers in a clear and concise statement without hype or promotional language.

The Reference:Quotations:Scientific sub-category lists sites which offer quotations by or about science or scientists.

If your site publishes quotes by or about a single scientist, please submit it to the Reference:Quotations:Famous sub-category.

Search Engines

Sites which give the user access to multiple Quotation web sites. These may be organized presentations such as annotated directories, or may offer the ability to search multiple sites for quotations.

Sports

A quotation is a copy of the words of another, with acknowledgment of the source. If you do not include sources for your quotations, the Reference sub-categories are not right for your site. You might consider submitting it to one of the Society:People:Personal Pages categories. If your site is primarily a sales promotion, please submit it to the appropriate Shopping category.
The Reference:Quotations:Sports sub-category lists sites which feature quotes by or about sports or sports figures.

If your site offers quotations by or about a single sports figure, please submit it to Reference:Quotations:Famous.

Wisdom

A quotation is a copy of the words of another, with acknowledgment of the source. If you do not include sources for your quotations, the Reference sub-categories are not right for your site. You might consider submitting it to one of the Society:People:Personal Pages categories. If your site is primarily a sales promotion, please submit it to the appropriate Shopping category.
The Reference:Quotations:Wisdom sub-category lists sites that provide quotations which give the reader new perspectives on the way people think and behave.

Proverbs are included if they cite the original reference. Folk proverbs should be submitted to Society: Folklore: Literature: Proverbs and Sayings .
