Land's End
This category represents the rugged peninsula that extends into the Atlantic.
This is in the parish of
Sennen
, but the term, is extended to the
neighbouring parishes of
St Just
to the north,
St Buryan
to the east,
and St Levan to the south east, represented by
Porthcurno
on the south coast,
with the parish of Paul eastwards, represented by the
Mousehole
category,
before the major conurbations of
Newlyn
and
Penzance
.
For rural locations north of Penzance, please see the
Zennor
category, otherwise
websites for locations on the north coast may be listed in the
St Ives
category.
To distinguish the latter localities from the granite outcrop stretching west into the Atlantic,
the area is also known as Land's End Peninsula, or West Penwith after the former Hundred,
and district of Cornwall administered from Penzance.
The Parliamentary electoral constituency of St Ives, includes all of the parishes above,
but extends east of the boundary of the former Penwith District.
The River Hayle flows north in to Carbis Bay and forms the boundary, with
Hayle
in the
Camborne
and
Redruth
constituency, whereas the parish of St Erth on
the River Hayne remains in Penwith, and until there are sufficient websites for
a separate category, is represented here by the
St Ives
category.
The next parish inland to the south is Germoe, which until there are sufficient websites to
justify a separate category, is represented by the
Marazion
category.
Websites for locations along the south coast, east of the Perranuthnoe and Praa Sands
are regarded as part of the
Lizard Pennisula
.
Please suggest websites to the most appropriate subcategory of its locality category, where it
can be added to the
Regional Tree View
