Paamiut (“Inhabitants at the Mouth”) is located at the mouth of the Kuannersooq Fjord in West Greenland. The town, formerly called Frederikshab was established in 1742 but the area has been inhabited since around 1,500 B.C. The town and its one settlement, Arsuk are home to approximately 2,100 residents whose primary occupation is fishing. The local wildlife includes several species of whales such as Rorquals, Fin Whales, Killer Whales, and Humpback Whales. The area is also home to Greenland’s largest population of White-tailed Eagles.
