Eastern Massachusetts is comprised of the Counties of Essex, Suffolk, Barnstable, Dukes, Nantucket, Bristol, Norfolk, Middlesex and Plymouth. It encompasses the regions known as the Merrimac Valley, Cape Ann, Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket Island, South Shore, North Shore, Greater Boston and Metrowest.

Only regional guides, directories, businesses with locations in, or organizations with members in more than one Massachusetts county in the Eastern Massachusetts region belong in this category.

Businesses with locations in more than one town but in the same county should not be submitted here but to the most specific Massachusetts County.

Businesses which are located in only one town should be submitted to Locality.

Greater Boston

Greater Boston is a region centered on the city of Boston, including all communities inside of or bordering the semi-circular corridor defined by Route 128, I-95, and I-93, from the I-95/128 junction in the north (Peabody) to the I-93/Route 3 junction (Braintree) in the south, as well as a few communities directly adjacent to this area. For more information, see the Localities sub-category.

The Greater Boston category is limited to sites with importance in more than one county in the region. Businesses and organizations with locations in more than one town but in the same county should not be submitted in Greater Boston, but to the most specific Massachusetts County. Businesses or organizations which are located in only one town should be submitted to the appropriate Locality.

Metrowest

Metrowest is located west of Boston and includes the towns of Ashland, Framingham, Holliston, Hopkinton, Natick, Sherborn, Southborough, Sudbury and Wayland.

Sites need to be located in and of benefit to a number of the communities of Metrowest to be appropriate for this area. Please remember that if your site has a broader range of exposure than the above, it may be more appropriate for the Middlesex-County, Eastern Massachusets, or Massachusets categories of the Open Directory Project.

Pioneer Valley

South Shore
