Florence, located on the central Oregon coast along U.S. Highway 101 at the mouth of the Siuslaw River, is a popular recreation and retirement community. Situated on the northern edge of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, Florence is known for hiking, bird watching, horseback and dune buggy riding activities available in the dunes, as well as for the Sea Lion Caves which are 10 miles north. It is also known as the "City of Rhododendrons."
