Neuro linguistic programming is a controversial approach to psychotherapy and organizational change based on a model of interpersonal communication chiefly concerned with the relationship between successful patterns of behaviour and the subjective experiences underlying them. There is a system of alternative therapy based on this which seeks to educate people in self-awareness and effective communication, and to change their patterns of mental and emotional behaviour". Richard Bandler and John Grinder came up with the approach in the 1970s. Tony Robbins popularized it in the 1980s. In the 1990s, Bandler returned with DHE, or Design Human Engineering. Today, NLP's popularity is growing on the internet.

New Age is not a professional science of psychology category but a general grouping of self help and popular psychology ideas, writings, guru's and commercial outfits that fit a spiritual approach to self help. Individual practitioners should not submit to this category. Instead, they should submit to the appropriate sub-category under Health/Mental Health/Counseling_Services.

Parapsychology is the branch of psychology which attempts to scientifically study anomalous phenomena such as alleged psychic powers, UFO sightings, alien abduction experiences, haunting or possession experiences, etc. One does not have to take a position on the objective reality of such alleged phenomena to be a parapsychologist. Indeed, although admittedly there are very few tenured parapsychology researchers in the world, some of them think that there is no convincing evidence for any (or hardly any) of these "paranormal" phenomena; some state that the evidence for, say, remote viewing, is very compelling; and some parapsychologists prefer not to be drawn on their true beliefs, simply saying "We must investigate these phenomena without either dismissing them out of hand as non-existent, nor necessarily taking them at face value". There is thus a certain amount of overlap with the Society: Paranormal category and the Science: Anomalies and Alternative Science category, but this category is restricted specifically to scientific investigations (that is, investigations using a recognizably scientific and rationalist methodology) of the paranormal and other presently-inexplicable anomalies involving the human mind.

Also known as cranioscopy, it studies the relationships between a person's character and the morphology of the skull. In other words, it uses the bumpiness of a person's skull to determine his or her character, intelligence, and personality. It has been used to promote racism and sexism. It is considered a pseudoscience now, but was very popular and considered a real science in the 1800s.
