Veterans

The Veterans category of the ODP offers English language websites with content by and for the veterans of the world's armed forces. A majority of the websites in this category are war veteran related, but websites with content for or by veterans that have never served in combat are also welcome to be submitted here.

1.) Please submit only websites where the main part of the content is for or by military veterans.

2.) Please read the submission guidelines and the description in the subcategory you plan to submit your site to. This will give you a better understanding of the types of websites that should be submitted to that subcategory.

3.) Submit to the correct category. If you have a site that mainly focuses on veterans of the Vietnam War, the correct category would be one of the Vietnam War categories. It can be difficult to find the correct category if your site has a broad scope and parts of your website could fit into several sub categories. If you can''t find a subcategory that would fit your site, you should submit it to a category higher up in the hierarchy tree. For example, you have a website with content for veterans of the Vietnam War, the Korean War and WWII, the right Category for you to submit in would be the main Veterans category, while a site with content only for veterans of the Korean War should be submitted to the Korean War category.

DESCRIPTION - Organized link indexes, directories and search engines to help you find sites for, or about, veterans.

SUBMISSION POLICY - Submit only sites that are used as directories for locating web resources with a primary focus toward veterans.

Sites that contain their own veteran locator service should apply to the "Society: Military: Veterans: Web Directories" category.

Sites that are a directory only for different chapters of veterans organizations should apply to the appropriate area of the "Society: Military: Veterans: Organizations" category.

Gulf War

Sites for veterans' resources concerning the Gulf War (Operations DESERT SHIELD and DESERT STORM, 1990-91).

Please submit only sites for veterans'' resources concerning the Gulf War (Operations DESERT SHIELD and DESERT STORM, 1990-91). Issues

DESCRIPTION - Sites that deal with issues faced by veterans and other military personnel. Includes political, personal, health and other issues.

SUBMISSION POLICY - Submit only sites that concern issues that directly affect veterans. It is OK to submit sites that also affect others, but veterans must be specifically addressed, and should be the ones primarily affected.

Issues that have no direct affect on veterans should be submitted to the appropriate sub-category of the "Society: Issues" category.

Memorial Web Sites

This category is intended for memorials to military veterans. The veterans do not need to have died in combat, however, the site should reference their military background.

Submit sites that are dedicated to veterans of a specific conflict. For example, memorials dedicated to all veterans of World War II should be submitted here.

Organizations

Sites in this category may be of general interest to military veterans. They may also be centered on specific issues or military units.

Please submit sites that pertain to organizations that focus on military veterans. Organizations that are not specific to veterans but include veterans in their scope may also be submitted.

Publications

In here you will find a variety of publications with Veterans related content.

History related publications should be submitted to Society/History and the appropriate sub category.

Regional

Link farm that collects pointers to the Veterans categories in Regional.

Reunions

Please submit sites related to U.S. Navy ship reunions to the relevant ship category in Regional: North America: United States: Government: Military: Navy: Ships.
