This Cycling category is dedicated to cataloging all the significant cycling resources on the Internet.

The mission statement for the Cycling category is: "Ride more!" To support that we seek to have information on where to ride (touring & maps), who to ride with (clubs and organizations), how to ride ( Road, off-road, track, etc.), and everything else in between that makes cycling more interesting.

Topics such as Triathlon can be found in their own categories. This is because these groups have their own culture and focus.

If you are suggesting a website for a cycling manufacturer that does not provide online shopping, please suggest it to Business: Consumer Goods and Services: Sporting Goods: Cycling.

If you are suggesting a website that provides a means for online shopping via a shopping cart, phone or email orders, please suggest to Shopping/Sports/Cycling.

Major categories with regional interests include:

  • Bike Shops - includes subcategories for local bike retailers and dealers.
  • Organizations - here you'll find international, national and local bike clubs, racing teams, and advocacy organizations.
  • Tour Operators - suggest touring companies that provide bicycle tours to a particular region and country.

Antique and collectible bicycles include those that are old and have become rare and desirable collectors items, are custom made or are of a limited production run.
The term, "Bike Shops" and the entries in this category refer to bicycle service shops, bicycle repairs shops, full-service bicycle shops, or dealers/retailers that are of interest to a regional (or local) community.

DO NOT SUGGEST a bike shop that provides online pricing, and ordering (online, phone or fax) of cycling equipment, accessories or components internationally or nationally.

  • In the "Title", please only include the name of the company/bike shop.

BMX

BMX (aka, Bicycle Motorcross) and BSX (Bicycle Supercross) include a variety of cycling disciplines and areas such as street, flatland, vert and dirt jumping.
Please try and submit you site to the correct subcategory within BMX. Please submit personal pages to the appropriate category.

If the submitted site is for a BMX park or particular local scene, then please submit your site to Sports/Cycling/Regional/ category. Please mention the location such as, "Southern California" or "Vancover, British Columbia".

DO NOT include wording such as, "the coolest", "the best", "and more", "etc.". Also, do NOT include ALL CAPS.

Submissions that do not follow these guidelines may result in large delay or failure to have site listed.

Use for cycling-related groups of sites that include links for interactive, real-time online chat rooms, bulletin boards, discussion groups, and message boards.
Please submit the exact URL of the "chat or forum".

Do not submit your site''s home page, unless the site''s main purpose is an online chat or forum. For example, Yahoo! Groups would be acceptable

This section is for bikes that are constructed for reasons other than performance or utility. The usual versions are choppers, but the category also includes species such as tallbikes, battle wagons, and amphibious pleasure craft.
College and university web sites dedicated to cycling, including regional conferences.

For Title include:

  • Official name of university (not the team), such as "University of [Name] at [Location].
For Description include:
  • Official or slang name of team, such as "The UBA Cycling Club" - Followed by what information is contained on the site such as, "photos, news, local trail guide, results and events calendar, message board, mailing list, and membership information."
  • Next, you may want to include conference affiliation, such as "; an NCCA - ACCC member."

Category contains cycling related sites involved in transportation methods (commuting) and safety (advocacy) of cyclists within their community.
For commuter and cycling advocacy organizations, groups and coalitions, please submit your site to the appropriate Sports/Cycling/Regional/ area.
Use for formal and informal conferences, meetings, trade shows, and workshops, and associated events related to cycling.

Do not submit cycling "events", such as racing events.

Do not submit collegiate cycling conferences or university sites here.

Use for sites containing alphabetical or classified lists of resources covering cycling sport.

Directories is used in place of Guides for sites which provide a straight list of sites, sometimes with a brief description and not, generally, including additional information.

For example, the Curlie is a directory.
Some cyclists have disabilities which may affect the way they ride. For example, blind cyclists sometimes partner with sighted cyclists to ride tandem bicycles.
This category contains collections of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about bicycling. Most are from the various rec.bicycles.* newsgroups.
Only submit sites that contain maintenance tips that are provided online. In other words, bicycle shops that simply perform maintenance would not qualify.

They don't use any form of stored energy." HPVs can be divided into three main categories: Air = Human Powered Aircraft (HPA), Sea = Human Powered Boats (HPB), Land = Recumbents and Handcycling.
Includes links to sites related to the sports of Indoor Cycling. Indoor Cycling is a general classification to group several sports that may or may not be held in an international championship or tournament. Sports within Indoor Cycling include:
  • Cycle Ball - also known as Cycle Soccer or Radball (German). It is a court game played while riding a bike. It is very popular in Europe and Asia.
