Streamline Moderne followed and was influenced by Art Deco. The main difference is that Streamline Moderne removed most ornamentation of Art Deco, hence the Streamline in its name. Buildings were designed so the horizontal view was most noticeable. Corners and windows were rounded, making the windows resemble ship portholes.

Art Deco was most popular between the 1920s and '40s; Streamline Moderne between the 1930s until 1945.
