Joanne Kathleen Rowling was born on July 31, 1965, in Chipping Sodbury, a small town in southern England. She has published four books revolving around the magical world of apprentice wizard Harry Potter and his friends at the Hogwarts School.
Rowling's books have also found nearly universal critical acclaim as well, striking a responsive chord among both adults and children. Her blend of fantasy, humor, and adventure combines with deft characterization and masterful storytelling to create a truly wonderful series.
