Penny Marshall was born as Carole Penelope Marshall on October 15, 1943 in Manhattan, New York City, New York, grew up in the Bronx, New York City, and died December 17, 2018 (age 75) from heart and lung diseases and type 1 diabetes.
Ms Marshall came from a family of performers and workers in the TV and film industries. The most well-known of them was her older brother Garry Marshall. Penny began as an actress, then branched out to directing and producing movies and TV shows. She was nominated for numerous awards, and won about 10, including lifetime awards.
She gave birth to one child, Tracy Reiner, born July 7, 1964. Tracy's birth father was Michael Heny, Penny's first husband. Tracy was raised by Penny and her second husband, Rob Reiner. Reiner also adopted Tracy.
