A line of automobiles designed an built by Italian Ettore Bugatti in France between 1909 and 1963. "La Marque" is best known for its racing cars of the 1920s and 1930s which, in addition to winning races, were considered works of art. An attempt was made to revive the Bugatti marque by Lotus and Alfa Romeo dealer Romano Artioli between 1987 and 1995 without much success. In 1998 the marque was purchased by the Audi Group of Volkswagen, who are also producing new Bugattis.
