For the listing of sites in and pertaining to the town of Skalat. Skalat is town in Pidvolochysk district (rayon) of Ternopil region (oblast) in Western part of Ukraine. When Western Ukraine (Galicia) was part of Poland and Austria, Skalat was a district center and is known because of its fortress. Castle dating from 1630 has been partially preserved. Population 5,000, railway station. City is located on the Hnyla river. Founded sometime prior to 1564. Castle dating from 1630 has been partially preserved.
