West Dean is a village on the boundary of east Wiltshire with the Hampshire parish of East Dean, before Lockerley to the east.
West Dean has a railway station before Dunbridge in Hampshire leading to  Salisbury.
The River Dun flows into West Dean parish, formerly feeding the remains of Salisbury and Southampton Canal,
which has its source at the wharf in  Alderbury, having flowed between
East and West  Grimstead immediately west of West Dean.
Farley village is to the north west, and the Wiltshire parish of  Winterslow is north to the Hampshire border.
Whiteparish is on the Hampshire border to the south.
