Anna Maria is a small resort village occupying the north tip of Anna Maria Island, a Gulf Coast barrier island lying east of Bradenton, north of Sarasota and Longboat Key, and across the mouth of Tampa Bay to the south of St. Pete Beach. Just south of Anna Maria, and taking up the rest of Anna Maria Island, are the towns of Holmes Beach and Bradenton Beach.
