The study of Urban Climate is increasingly important in a world where the majority of people live in ever-expanding urbanized areas.
Effects studied include pollution, air flow among highrises, the effects of trees and parks in urban areas on temperature and humidity, urban heat islands (the local heating effect caused by heat-absorbent building and pavement materials), and more. Also of interest to students of urban climate is the consequences of such effects to human health and well-being.
